WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT REFRACTIVE LENSECTOMY
If you have an astigmatism - blurred or distorted vision caused by an oblong-shaped cornea - and need cataract surgery there is now an option to remove your cataract and treat your astigmatism at the same time! The Toric intraocular lens (IOL) has a unique design that offsets the imbalance of the corneal astigmatism. This will allow you to see better at distance, or near, without glasses than with a traditional monofocal IOL.

The Toric lens is a foldable, single-piece lens that is made of the same biocompatible lens material that has been successfully implanted since 1991. This lens has a uniquely designed surface that helps reduce or eliminate the astigmatism in your eye.
Clinical studies have shown that 97% of patients who had a Toric lens implanted in both eyes achieved freedom from glasses for their distance vision while only 50% of the control group who received a traditional IOL for distance vision achieved the same result.
The actual procedure to implant the Toric lens is similar to traditional small-incision cataract surgery. Our doctors use the "no needles, no stitch, no patch" surgery technique, so you are relaxed and comfortable throughout the procedure. It takes only a few minutes and is performed in an outpatient facility.
As with all technological breakthroughs, the Toric lens will work better for some patients than others. As always, a comprehensive pre-surgical evaluation is necessary before determining which lens implant will be right for you. Then, in the expert hands of an accomplished surgeon like Dr. Donald Bennett, you can clearly discover the future of your vision.
There are no words I can express how kind and generous you all have been. Thank you so much for making this surgery possible for me. Without it I would have lost my eyesight. It goes to show that God still has wonderful people on this earth. God Bless you all and thank yo...
Thankfully Yours, M.K.
