Dr. Addy Adkisson joined Bennett & Bloom Eye Centers as a resident optometrist in 2024 to pursue her post-doctoral training in ocular disease management. Originally from Savannah, Tennessee, she received her Bachelor of Science from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, before returning to her home state to pursue her Doctor of Optometry degree. She attended Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, where she graduated summa cum laude in 2024.
While at SCO, Dr. Adkisson completed clinical externships at the Ralph H. Johnson VAMC in Charleston, South Carolina, as well as Kapperman McGarvey Eye Group in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was the recipient of multiple academic and clinical awards including the Dr. Mohammed Rafieetary Academic and Clinical Excellence Award for excellence in ocular disease. She also served the college as a student ambassador, representing SCO to prospective students and to the community.
Dr. Adkisson was chosen as a member of the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society for her academic and leadership performance. She is also a member of Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society, the American Optometric Association, and the Kentucky Optometric Association. Outside of eyecare, Dr. Adkisson enjoys spending time outdoors, playing tennis, and watching Tennessee Vols sports!
